Description
Talented tutors Paula Fletcher and Carly Ennor aka the ‘Two Crafty Dames’ will take you on a six week sewing and craft adventure to design and create your own fabulous vintage-inspired handmade pieces. Learn the basics of pattern cutting, hand sewing and machine sewing. Items you create will make for delightful gifts or stylish fashion accessories.
Week 1: Eco shopping bag.
Week 2: Beautiful buttons and embellishments.
Weeks 3-4: “Domestic Goddess” half apron and pot holder.
Week 5: Hand stitched fabric flowers.
Week 6: Fabulous floral headband and brooch.
Materials List
You will be provided with a basic resource kit but please ensure you also bring the following to your first class:
Apron, Pot holder and Eco bag fabrics (Essential):
- 1x1m length of feature fabric and 2x 1/2 m lengths of contrasting cotton or polycotton fabrics (eg: 1m Floral, 1/2m Spots, 1/2 m Stripes or Geometric)
- 1x Spool of matching thread
- 1x Package 25mm wide bias binding in matching colour
Basic sewing kit including all or some of the following:
- Dressmaking scissors
- Quick unpick
- Tape measure
- Hand sewing needles
- Dressmaking pins
Supplies for fabric flowers:
- Pretty fabric scraps – satin, silk, cotton, anything! (Try looking in an op shop or using scraps from damaged clothing)
